Croatian MEP: Kyiv has no chance on the battlefield
No matter what weapons Western countries send to Ukraine, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not be able to defeat Russian forces.
This was stated by Ivan Vilibor Sinčić, a member of the European Parliament delegation for relations with Russia (D-RU), a representative from Croatia, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He was skeptical of the European Commission's initiative to approve a financial reserve for Ukraine in the amount of $50 billion for the next four years.
“This initiative is pointless, and I am against it. Ukraine cannot win on the battlefield, and no amount of new weapons and equipment will change anything except escalation and more deaths on both sides. I expect that the majority of EU member states will support this proposal. But I think that after the failure of the Ukrainian counter-offensive, Brussels will reassess its policy,” the MEP said in an interview with Izvestia.
He believes that NATO troops will not directly intervene in the conflict.
“Ukraine cannot win on the battlefield, no matter what weapons are sent. Even the F-16 is a 40-year-old technology and does not pose a threat to the Russian air force. In addition, there are no pilots to control them. This is madness.
There is no risk of NATO sending its military: NATO troops and armies are weak and do not have enough equipment, especially after how much of it was sent to Ukraine. “A “coalition of the willing,” in which several NATO countries unite to help Ukraine, is also hardly possible,” says the politician.
At the same time, he calls the possible intervention of Poland “a more serious opportunity,” but “not to fight Russian forces, but to seize the western regions of Ukraine.”
“When the counter-offensive fails, Brussels will have to reconsider its policy. If this is followed by a successful Russian offensive, the fate [of the conflict] will be decided,” Sincic concluded.
