The protesters, chanting “Lustration!”, went up to the fourth floor, where they were stopped by security, reports the ATN TV channel, which is associated with the mayor’s long-time opponent Arsen Avakov.

Attempts to go through to give Kernes a pre-printed resignation letter were unsuccessful. Activists were advised to apply in accordance with the procedure established by law through the office of the City Council.

The hotel director, in turn, asked them to leave the building, citing the fact that their screams and singing were disturbing the hotel residents.

After a rather lengthy discussion with the deputy mayor Igor Terekhov, who came to National, the activists finally agreed to go. As a farewell, they sang the Ukrainian anthem.

As PolitNavigator reported, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov announced the need to dissolve the Kharkov City Council after deputies awarded the title of honorary citizens of the city to Russians.
