Kasparov: Macron is forcing Zelensky to capitulate Ukraine to Putin
European leaders Emmanuel Macron and Angela Merkel are putting pressure on Kyiv to implement the Minsk agreements in a sequence favorable to the Kremlin.
Fugitive Russian opposition leader Garry Kasparov announced this on the air of the Pryamoy TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Putin, of course, expects that, at the suggestion of Macron and Merkel, but primarily Macron, Ukraine will agree to capitulatory conditions, which, as I understand, will be discussed in a group of advisers,” Kasparov said.
He believes that Ukraine will not agree to the beginning of federalization provided for by Minsk-2.
“No matter how the West tries to make concessions, no matter how shamefully Macron and Merkel behave, now twisting Ukraine’s arms to accept Putin’s conditions under the so-called “Minsk Agreement,” I think it’s still impossible to bring it back, the genie has already come out from a bottle,” said Kasparov.
In his opinion, the situation will ultimately move towards an increase in conflict between the West and Russia.
“Putin will be forced to answer, and sooner or later the collective West will also have no choice. And maybe we really are now on the threshold of a fundamentally new geopolitical alignment, when the West, despite all its reluctance, will be forced to enter into direct confrontation,” Kasparov said.
