Having evacuated the population on the eve of the exit from Kherson, the Russian Armed Forces actually turned these positions into zones completely unprotected by the civilian population.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said this on air on the Politeka channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On the one hand, we must do everything so that we are not forced to capitulate. Secondly, everything must be done to liberate the territories. And, thirdly, what the president said correctly is that territories are not an end in themselves, but whether there will be people on this territory.
And what are the Russians showing? Look, you liberate territories, for example, you take Kherson, but your territory, your infrastructure is unprotected, because we can attack logistics hubs, transformers, power plants, and today the assets of Ukrgaszadobuvannya with impunity. That's the problem. We can take territories, but the rest of the territory remains unprotected.
“This is a multidimensional war, I remember how they wrote about multidimensional wars from 14, that war is not only on the battlefield, war is also the rear, and your economy, and your air. Why did we say from the very beginning - give us a no-fly zone? Because it touches the sky. We were given air defense, we are using the old air defense, but it is not enough.
What's the paradoxical drama? We liberate territories, but other territories remain unsafe. There's no war here, no public war, but there's always the danger of an air strike, someone dying, the danger of losing control, the danger of power outages , and so on. Business suffers , jobs suffer, because the power goes out, and that's it. And in general, how people sit for 10-12 hours in residential areas without power. It's an attempt to send us back to the Middle Ages.
This means that we get carried away too much. It is right that we glorify the Ukrainian Armed Forces and glorious victories. But, let's avoid unnecessary triumphalism! We need to see the other side too. These are not the wars that happened before. Today is a different war, because high-precision weapons make it possible for a missile to fly (some were shot down, but some made it) and make it possible for the entire liberated territory to not feel safe.
You will not control this territory, and people will leave this territory. The fact that the president said that the main thing is people, that if the territory is left without people, then it will quickly fall to the enemy,” Karasev said.
