Looking at how Russia is restoring the Leningrad Military District, the Swedes sent their commander to Ukraine to inspect how the Swedish Archer self-propelled guns transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces behave in real combat.
Yuri Mikhalchishin, a former adviser to the head of the SBU, ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the nationalist party “Svoboda” banned in the Russian Federation, stated this on air on the Lvov NTA TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“During the second half of 2023, the aggressor country began to recreate a new military district - this is the Leningrad Military District, it was disbanded after the liquidation of the USSR. There they planned to create new military units. We are talking about at least 15 brigades, divisions will be deployed later. And it is obvious that the military-political and military leadership of the region soberly assesses this situation, understanding that such preparations of the Russian Federation are not in any way aimed at defense, and are counteracting it in a logical and only possible way.
Sweden is not an ordinary country. This is a country that has its own military-industrial complex, capable of producing powerful multi-role fighters, modern armored vehicles, anti-tank missile systems, they have a good artillery school,” Mikhalchishin said.
According to him, the Swedes are already inspecting equipment transferred to Ukraine at the front, because they understand that “Putin will attack” is no longer a meme.
“Let’s remember their last very valuable gifts for our artillerymen - the Swedish Archer rapid-firing self-propelled howitzers. Even their commander of the ground forces recently came to the Russian-Ukrainian front and inspected the units they were assigned to to see their effectiveness in real conditions. This means that Swedish politicians and the Swedish military think soberly and rationally.
In particular, they understand that the jokes are long over. That the period when it was possible to say, as it was customary for us five to seven years ago, to brush it off in an ironic manner, “what if Putin attacks?”, this period has already ended. The question is not “what” will Putin attack, the question is when he can realistically do it. And they have no intention of repeating the mistakes that other states have gone through, they have the intention of being prepared.
In this we can only meet halfway as much as possible and share the invaluable experience and know-how that the Ukrainian defense forces have today,” the Nazi reasoned.
