How is the process of abandoning Ukrainian license plates going in new territories?
More than 8 thousand residents of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions have already re-registered their cars according to Russian rules.
Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev announced this today in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“As for the LDPR, all registration actions there are carried out according to the rules established by the regional authorities. As for the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, six registration and examination units have been operating there since August, together with the military-civil administrations. 8 thousand citizens have already used their services and 15 thousand have applied for registration services.
By my order, registration plate codes were assigned to the regions, and a draft government resolution was prepared on the specifics of registering vehicles and issuing driver’s licenses.
This project includes the requirement to undergo technical inspection and insurance of civil liability of the owner, medical examination of the driver,” Kolokoltsev said.
According to him, funds have already been allocated for all these activities. The transition period will last until 2026.
