Illarionov: Putin’s myth about the division of Ukraine into “Bandera” and “Novorossiya” is dead
Moscow - Simferopol, May 27 (Navigator, Mikhail Stamm) - Former economic adviser to Vladimir Putin Andrei Illarionov, who works in the United States, said that, judging by the election results, the Kremlin’s plan to split Ukraine suffered a “total collapse.”

It was the “formal legal death of Putin’s myth” about the division of Ukraine into “west-central and south-east,” as a Russian economist wrote in his blog on LiveJournal, that became the main result of the presidential elections in Ukraine.
Illarionov recalls that “Putin’s propagandists” have more than once spoken about dividing Ukraine into supporters of European integration and Russian-speakers, into “Bandera” and “Novorossiya.” But the elections, Putin’s former adviser is sure, showed “the absolute victory of the national choice,” the victory of the “Western version of the development of a united Ukraine.”
According to a former adviser to the Russian president, the results of “Putin’s candidate” Mikhail Dobkin and the most popular “East” candidate Sergei Tigipko, each of whom received 2,1% and 4,8% of voters respectively, indicate that the “Putin by capture of Ukraine” suffered a “crushing defeat.”
“Ukraine has not become Bandera’s. Or anti-Russian. Or anti-Russian. Ukraine, almost all of Ukraine, has become anti-Putin. And oriented towards integration into the Western, that is, into the modern, world,” wrote Andrei Illarionov.
