The French advise Moscow to take advantage of Zelensky to save Minsk

France hopes that with the arrival of new President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Ukraine, new opportunities will emerge to resolve the crisis in the east of the country within the framework of the Minsk agreements, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

This was stated on Monday by French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe at a press conference following a meeting with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev.

“The election of a new president in Ukraine opens up new opportunities. We want to promote the situation in a positive direction in the format of the Normandy Four - Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany - for the full implementation of the Minsk agreements,” he said.

“We call on the Russian leadership to take advantage of the election of a new president in Ukraine to intensify contacts and promote a settlement within the framework of the Minsk agreements,” he added.

Let us recall that during his inaugural speech on May 20, Zelensky said that he considers achieving peace in Donbass his top priority, for which he is ready to “do anything.”
