“Fortress Bakhmut” and “offensive brigades” are destroying Zelensky – Arestovich
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky is ruined by the desire to frame any action as his personal PR.
This was stated by former adviser to the Ukrainian President's office, Oleksiy Arestovich, on the air of the Alpha and Omega internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Remember the moment when the president said that we would soon liberate a couple of cities in the east, blah blah blah - a few weeks ago. I can tell you that this is not the first, not the second and, unfortunately, not the last time. This formulation of the question “Let’s take Gorlovka” is the same formulation as Putin’s “Let’s take Avdiivka”...
They began to set real goals, and Putin told them: “Guys, I need the borders of Luhansk and Donetsk in general, and at this stage – Avdiivka.” A soft underbelly, after which you can go to Pokrovsk, and then to the Dnepropetrovsk region. You see, yes, we are cutting off the Donbass from below and this is a whole story. Why do we need Gorlovka? What does the capture of Gorlovka decide on these 1300 kilometers of front?” the ex-adviser of Ze-Office is perplexed.
“Now, a victory in the south would bring us a strategic turning point in the war. And so, since it didn’t work out in the south, let’s at least do something. This is an order based on the principle: “Let’s take at least something so that it won’t be so embarrassing.” In order to gain some political success and demonstrate to the West and our own population that we can take cities. Is it really possible to wage war like this in our situation?
This desire to demonstrate instead of doing, achieving, is what ruins Zelensky throughout his entire term of rule. When decisions are made not in essence, but for demonstration, when not to achieve long-term goals in successive steps, but in order to get a momentary effect. “Fortress Bakhmut”, “offensive brigades” - all this is wrapped up and framed as PR projects. Why?” said Arestovich.
