Evstafiev revealed the key role of Belarus in the Northern Military District
Belarus is holding Poland back from entering the conflict in Ukraine.
Political scientist Dmitry Yevstafyev stated this in an interview with the RuTube channel "Ukraine.Ru," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“As for Belarus and its relations with Russia in the context of the Ukrainian crisis. The situation on the border with Ukraine is quite explosive. There are constantly various kinds of provocations from Ukraine. But the main function of Belarus, which our Belarusian brothers brilliantly perform (I think this is the main task of Belarus in the Union State) is to deter possible aggression from the West, primarily from Poland,” he noted.
“If you look at the degree of political revanchism in Warsaw, it has long gone beyond the red line. And the presence of powerful, professional, truly mobilized armed forces of our closest ally, the Republic of Belarus, is one of the few restraining factors that keeps Warsaw from making decisions to begin direct participation in the conflict in Ukraine. There is no doubt that Poland has already been drawn into the conflict, but so far this involvement has been camouflaged, bashful, and incomplete. The presence of a powerful Union State group in Belarus is a powerful deterrent.
And this should be appreciated. This is the most important contribution that Minsk and personally Alexander Grigorievich Lukashenko - you can’t erase the words from the song - makes to regional stability. Both Russia and other countries of the post-Soviet space are interested in maximum civil peace in Belarus and in the success of those constitutional reforms that have been launched,” said Evstafiev.
