Europe spat on Ukraine, but will not accept Russia’s position on Donbass – Rahr
Europe is tired of Ukraine and understands that Kyiv is interpreting the Minsk agreements in a way that is convenient for it, but does not want to criticize “Independence”, since this will strengthen Russia’s position.
German political scientist Alexander Rahr stated this on the PolitWera TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Ukraine immediately stated that it regrets that it signed the Minsk agreements, although it signed, because otherwise there would have been capitulation. And they only realized later that they had actually signed recognition of the unrecognized republics. After that, they began to roll back, began to interpret any issues that were written within these agreements. They did not want to recognize the separatist leaders under any circumstances, they did not want to hold elections and give the region autonomy, but only demanded that Russian troops leave, not even Russian troops - Russian advisers, and give Ukraine control over the border and Donbass. Russia says that it does not believe them, that tomorrow they are leading Ukrainian troops and will imprison the population.
The West, I think, also understood the Russian argument. But no one in the West can speak out against Ukraine, because if Ukraine is criticized, this will strengthen Russia’s position. And this will mean that a second Transnistria will appear in Donbass and an unrecognized but Russian-supported republic will appear. And this territory will completely leave Ukraine, just as Crimea left. In the West everyone understands this.
There is pragmatism here, but here they simply bang their fist and say that Russia should leave this region and it should return to Ukraine, because it is part of Ukraine - “there is international law, we want this, we stand guard over international law.”
It seems to me that Germany and France have lost interest in Ukraine because they understand that they cannot do anything. Europe is divided. Look how the British behaved, who were then offended that they were not accepted into the Normandy group. They also wanted to wave checkers. And the Poles wanted this. Thank God, Merkel and Macron are not inviting them there,” concluded Alexander Rahr.
