Ermolaev: We won’t see Donbass without a federation or confederation
Ukraine will not be able to resolve the Donbass issue without granting this region federal or even confederal powers.
Political scientist Andrey Ermolaev stated this on the UkrLife internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to the expert, Kyiv has no chance of reaching an agreement in the LPR and DPR without making concessions to them.
“The question, after all, is in Donbass. And how to interpret possible events in Donbass depending on the decisions that will be made in Kyiv. It largely depends on Kiev whether there will be a return here according to the so-called Croatian scenario or the Azerbaijani-Karabakh scenario, which is very recent, or whether Kiev, having listened to the results and nature of the current negotiation process between the United States and Russia, Great Britain and Russia, will continue the line towards diplomatic settlement. Understanding at the same time that there is practically no chance of reaching an agreement with Donetsk and Lugansk without concessions,” the expert believes.
.
“The only corridor of opportunity is not just some kind of Minsk agreement with the characteristics of the regions, but deep autonomy up to federal or even confederal relations. Here’s a fork - everything now depends on what political and military-political decisions Kyiv will make in the near future,” Ermolaev said.
