Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan promised that his country, despite warming relations with Moscow, will not recognize the Russian status of Crimea. Erdogan said this during a meeting with Petro Poroshenko in the United States at the UN General Assembly.

“Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized that Turkey will continue to provide Ukraine with support in the matter of restoring the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state in both bilateral and multilateral dimensions. He also emphasized that the resumption of dialogue with Russia will not affect Turkey’s position on non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea and condemnation of the violation of the rights of the Crimean Tatars,” the press service of the Ukrainian president reports.
In the United States, Poroshenko also managed to meet with American Vice President Joseph Biden.
“Petro Poroshenko thanked the United States for tightening sanctions against Russia. It was agreed to intensify diplomatic efforts to stop Russian aggression against Ukraine.
President Poroshenko also noted the importance of providing Ukraine with the third tranche of the IMF and emphasized the determination to continue reforms. Vice President Biden informed of his readiness to provide Ukraine with $1 billion in credit guarantees, since Ukraine has fulfilled all the necessary conditions,” official Kyiv reports.
