Electricity and water supplies in Crimea suffer from heat waves

"Unfortunately, the water situation is difficult. Today we decided to turn off the hot water until further notice.. What does special order mean? We will look at the accumulation of water in reservoirs. Now accumulation is, unfortunately, very weak. And in order not to turn off the cold water at all and do not leave the city without water at the height of the season, the decision was made to turn off the hot water, which contributes to the accumulation of tanks. Maybe we'll give you hot water again later.“I can’t say yet when this will happen,” said head of the administration of Yevpatoria Alexander Yuryev.
On the city the central water pipeline is again replacing a section of pipe, which had previously led to massive outbursts and five-day regime of imported water in Evpatoria. If you do not turn off the hot water supply and reduce the pressure at night, in the next 24 hours the city will again be left without water.
This may increase electricity consumption for heating water in boilers. Stress on electrical networks have increased due to the heat and intensively working air conditioners, which leads to to emergency shutdowns in different areas of the city. Entrepreneurs and owners of entertainment venues were warned that they would be the first to be cut off from the power supply, to power the sleeping areas and the sanatorium-resort complex.
Today the head of the Yalta administration, Yanina Pavlenko, reported that due to an accident in the networks, the center of Yalta was partially de-energized, there were spot outages in Massandra, the village of Vasilyevka and Gurzuf. It will take up to 6 hours to restore power supply.
