Urgent: Ukraine caved in for the sake of IMF money, the price of gas for the population increases from November 1
The Ukrainian government nevertheless “bowed in” to the IMF and, contrary to its previous assurances, decided to increase the price of gas for the population on the eve of the elections, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
From November 1, 2018, the price of gas for the population will increase by 23,5% and amount to 8550 hryvnia per 1000 cubic meters. The decision was made unanimously at an emergency government meeting on Friday, the Government Portal reports.

“From November 1, gas prices will increase by only 23,5%. Not 60%. This is what we managed to achieve through incredible efforts as a result of these negotiations,” Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman boasted.
An increase in gas prices was one of the IMF's requirements for providing Ukraine with another loan.
