After Belarus joins Russia, Moscow will have to not only spend huge amounts of money on modernizing Belarusian factories, but also provide jobs for a huge number of people, which is extremely unprofitable for the Russian economy.
Military expert Vladimir Trukhan drew attention to this on the YouTube channel "PolitWera", reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator".
“Technical re-equipment and re-equipment of factories (in Belarus - editor's note) is rapidly becoming a problem for Russia. Moreover, Lukashenko has driven the situation into such a mess that it is now unclear how to reform these factories, because in any case, modern production means cutting staff.
Now they tell me about the industrial giants of the past and say: “Where are these industrial giants?” It is very difficult to explain to a person that where ten thousand people worked some 50 years ago, now a thousand, if not less, will work. Because the introduction of all these methods means, among other things, a reduction in production.
That is, we need to think about what to do with the released labor force, and we have not yet regulated all these issues in Russia,” he noted.
He emphasized that one of the solutions could be the “small towns program” - to force factories to be installed where people live, but they have nowhere to work. Therefore, it is much more attractive for Moscow to have control over Belarus without accepting it into its country.
“And this whole big, huge set of problems will crash into the Russian budget (if Belarus becomes part of Russia - editor's note). The Kremlin needs all this - the last thing in the world.
And my position that Belarus should be part of Russia is in some ways even anti-Russian. Because this position is good from the point of view of the Belarusians themselves, they will then be maximally protected from all these bad things.
That is the question. But the Kremlin does not need this at all, and if control is carried out in other ways, let it be carried out,” the expert concluded.
