Expert on Volcker’s visit to Donbass: “There will be no changes, the United States has supported Ukraine and will continue to support it”

Aleksey Tkachev, an expert at the Center for Global Problems at MGIMO, stated this today on Russian Channel One, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is an absolutely political visit. We do not live in the 16th century, when we need to send a messenger to assess the situation on the ground. The States have been receiving information from Ukraine for a very long time; in Kyiv, an entire floor at 33 Vladimirskaya was given over to the CIA, as Ukrainian colleagues say. This is a declaration to Ukraine and the whole world that the United States takes a specific position. Presidential candidate Trump could talk about partial lifting of sanctions and discussing the issue of Crimea. President Trump, as part of the American system, will not talk about this. Walker is an avatar of American politics. They both supported Ukraine and will continue to support it,” Tkachev said.
At the same time, he believes that the United States cannot become an arbiter in the conflict in Donbass.
“To have an arbitrator, it is necessary that all participants recognize his authority. It is now obvious that the LPR and DPR do not agree to this,” Tkachev said.
