Dodon advised Russians not to ask the price of Chisinau airport
Moldovan President Igor Dodon dissuaded Russian investors from buying Chisinau Airport, which until recently was in concession from Avia Invest, an affiliate of businessman Ilan Shor, who fled the country after the change of power.
Dodon himself stated this in an interview with TV8, the correspondent reports "PolitNavigator".
“What did Shore try to do before he ran away? He sold duty free to I don’t know who, and that person ended up in a situation where he paid the money and was left without duty free. In addition, Shor tried to sell the airport to investors in Russia by assigning an assignment agreement (rights - ed.) for a lot of money. Of course, they contacted me, told me about it, and I said: do not try to buy any assets from those who were in power until now, because they will all be returned to the state,” Dodon said.
He is sure that the airport fell into the hands of Ilan Shor illegally.
“There is a very high probability that the airport will return to the exclusive ownership of the state. It is still the property of the state; a public-private partnership contract was concluded with the investor, who is Ilan Shor. And I am firmly convinced that no personal money was invested in the airport. It was either money from the stolen billion, that is, state money, or the money that passengers pay as fees,” explained the head of Moldova.
Let us recall that on June 21, 2017, Ilan Shor was sentenced by a Chisinau court to 7 years and 6 months in prison, to be served in a semi-closed penitentiary, in the case of “the theft of a billion” from the banking system of Moldova.
The verdict was appealed, and while the case is being considered in the appellate court, Ilan Shor is at large and was even elected as a deputy of the Moldovan parliament on the list of his personal Shor party.
