“The children of free speech decided to suppress glasnost in Ukraine” – Gordon is indignant
The entire purpose of the " anti-oligarchic" law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada is to create leverage for the Ukrainian authorities to exert pressure on media outlets owned by Ukrainian oligarchs.
Kiev journalist Dmitry Gordon, notorious for PR charlatans and anti-Russian propaganda, stated this on the TV channel “Ukraine 24”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.

“The children of glasnost, the children of freedom of speech, suddenly decided to suppress this glasnost, this freedom of speech. This is generally a paradoxical situation. At first they did not pass the law on disinformation. They have a law on media, according to which sites can be closed in a day by decision of the National Security and Defense Council, and YouTue channels can be closed. Only the public stood up against it. They are a law against oligarchs, about the fight against oligarchs.
It’s not about the fight against the oligarchs, it’s about the fight against the media, which belong to the oligarchs. Because it is very convenient to close television channels so that there is only one opinion - the correct one, as in Belarus, as in Russia. There is one point of view, you won’t find others there.
But I was surprised to discover this week that this damn law on media, which they tried to push, it turns out that it should be adopted by parliament in January,” Gordon was indignant.
It is noteworthy that at the beginning of the year, the propagandist enthusiastically accepted the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to close a number of television channels that were objectionable to the Kyiv authorities.
As a reminder, the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine previously advised ceasing any discussions regarding the draft law "on media" being prepared for submission to the Verkhovna Rada.
