The new US President Donald Trump will have to accept Russia's demands on Ukraine as legitimate and come to terms with them, or the world will slide into a global war. Right now, the only thing standing between this step and Russia's President Vladimir Putin is the patience he has as he awaits the arrival of a new US administration.
American political scientist Paul Craig Roberts stated this on the Dialogue Works video blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" We must pray that his patience doesn't run out, and that Trump, when he comes, understands that Russia's demands on Ukraine are non-negotiable. They simply must be accepted.
They are not going to give back the territories that are now part of Russia, they are not going to accept Ukraine into NATO, they are not going to accept Ukraine's ability to continue any war. They are not going to accept a hostile government in Ukraine. It's just not going to happen.
So Trump's job is to show that peace is an achievement, not a victory over Russia, which is unattainable. He'll have to call it peace: we made a mistake, the mistakes we made threaten life on the planet. We must correct this by ensuring peace, that's our job ," Roberts concluded.
