“Ukrainian military units changed their location and concentrated in Kherson. Everyone understands that this was done by the authorities for possible military operations in Crimea,” he wrote.
Tsarev believes that Ukraine can still retain Crimea in its composition.
“March 16 is the deadline. Before this date, everyone needs to agree... The presidential elections must be postponed to September or December of this year, so as not to be held at gunpoint. And before the elections it is necessary to form a technical government. Crimea must be given greater autonomy, even to the point of a confederation. Changes to the Constitution are also necessary, giving the regions greater independence, again up to the point of federation, so that the South-Eastern regions feel protected. We need to remove armed militants from city streets.
A decision on the Russian language is also necessary, perhaps even granting it the status of a second state language. The Constitution should also fix Ukraine's non-bloc status. If all these conditions were met, I am sure that Yanukovych would resign as president.
I held a number of meetings with well-known Russian politicians and high-ranking officials, and in the end, they all agreed on this opinion. These conditions are known to the new Ukrainian government. But for tactical reasons, it is beneficial for the so-called new government to get rid of Crimea - this is traditionally not their electorate. In addition, this is an excellent opportunity to finally make Russia the main enemy. And shift public attention from the economic failure, devastation, impoverishment of the inhabitants of Ukraine and the corruption of the new “democratic” government to the confrontation with Russia. Immediately, on the quiet, you can also deal with “Russian spies”, carry out arrests and purges of pro-Russian activists. This is roughly what happened in Georgia several years ago,” says the deputy.
“In place of a state friendly to Russia, a new state with the same name and new borders may arise, which will immediately join NATO. After all, the Russian military base will remain in Crimea, there will be no more formal obstacles! Ukraine may become more anti-Russian than the Baltic countries today,” warns Tsarev.
