Over the past 27 years, the appearance of the old-new flag over Ukraine has become overgrown with myths and stories, like the belly of an old sea pelvis with shells. In order to present to the inquisitive reader all the fragrant legends and anecdotes about the ensign collected from the pine forest in one binding, three elderly hamsters, squinting from Happiness, gathered at a press conference in Kiev: the author of the opus “The Day of the Ensign” Alexander Mosiyuk; director of the crummy publishing house "K.I.S." Yuri Marchenko, as well as the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Maxim Strikha, symbolically blessing the first two on behalf of the authorities.

The presentation itself was quite dull and graceless, since it was a stream of sugary snot about the “world-historical significance of Ukraine’s raising of the yellow-blakyt ensign”, lengthy discussions about the “road of progress along which Ukraine has gone far”, “we made a small revolution” , “shells whistled over our heads,” with constant narcissism against the backdrop of destructive events almost 30 years ago.

Those involved in the rise of Prapor Nezalezhnaya, Mosiyuk and Marchenko, inspiredly lied about some terrible danger, “fierce opposition from the communists,” but everything was overshadowed by the story about the ban (in fact, the postponement) of the military parade by the Kiev city administration in 1991, which, according to the “accordionists” , almost led to a bloody conflict in the capital of Ukraine.

In general, it is no secret that Mosiyuk (at that time deputy chairman of the Kyiv City Council), who was actually involved in hanging a yellow-and-black footcloth over Kiev after the crushing of the State Emergency Committee in Moscow, monetized this topic long ago, found himself a guaranteed trough, and Often before the Ensign's Day, from various mouthpieces, the ensign spreads loose noodles about “how it was.”

And now, that means, all the tales from the crypt are in one book with a modest circulation, the main purpose of which is to showdown with competitors - who deceived the commies earlier and more skillfully, raised a flag, as in the pioneer game "Zarnitsa", thereby staking out their place in the panopticon of bloomers figures until the end of time.

It would seem that the showdown is not worth a damn. Ah, no! Svidomo argues and gets confused in the testimony, trying to find out even such details as determining the name of the seamstress-motorist who was the first to cut Svidomo's footcloth. Disputes do not subside about what kind of crowd stood in those days under the walls of the Kyiv Rada - 100 or 200 thousand. Mosiyuk himself gets confused in his testimony and voices first one figure or another, equally far from reality.

Peremoga, as usual, has a whole herd of parents. Zrada is always an orphan.

Despite all the syrupy-touching pathos and the attempt to give the illegal action a nationwide scale (modestly “forgetting” the results of the all-Union referendum on the preservation of the USSR), during the 13 years of “independence” Ensign Day was local and was celebrated only by
Kyiv Rada on July 24, the day when the Maidan students who staged a “revolution on granite” in Soviet Kyiv in 1990, for the first time in 70 years, raised a rag over the capital of the Ukrainian SSR, which caused a strong association among the people with Petliura and the OUN.

In 2004, on the eve of new presidential elections, Kuchma, who conceived
to gain additional sympathy for his shady “successor” from the nationally concerned public, he introduced his Ensign Day, which Svidomo celebrates to this day - August 23. On the day in 1991, when Kravchuk, known for his evasive “fifth point,” fleeing from lynching by the Nazis for supporting the State Emergency Committee, diverted their attention from himself by ordering a yellow-black rug to be brought into the meeting room.

In turn, the former deputy chairman of the Kiev City Council, Mosiyuk, never tires of repeating how cleverly he pulled off a feint with his ears and deceived the commies around his fingers, making a protocol decision to hang out the Petlyura banner.

Well, it's simple. A protocol decision does not mean legal. Now that Mosiyuk is not in danger, he flaunts malfeasance. But they still realize a certain vulnerability of their position, which is why they constantly comb the topic of a hundred thousand people standing under the walls of Kievrada. They say, “I wasn’t the only one who raised the ensign – the people demanded it.”

Mosiyuk’s sycophants compare the “feat” of the former deputy chairman with the feat of the Young Guards who raised the Soviet flag over the occupied Krasnodon. They say, “if they can, then why couldn’t he?”

And here the best answer to such idiotic comparisons is the practice that has become ingrained in the flesh and blood of Svidomo degenerates: to act brazenly, using illegal methods, if they cannot pull off a profitable business legally.

This is an illegal referendum on the state sovereignty of Ukraine in Crimea; and further voluntaristic reductions in the powers of the autonomy; and the famous “third round” of elections, which made the “orange” accountant Yushchenko the president of Ukraine; finally, this is the legalization of the coup d'etat of February 2014, which brought untold troubles to Ukraine and war to the Donbass.

Apparently, this is exactly what Mosiyuk meant when he talked about “the road of progress along which Ukraine has moved forward.”

One can remember with what insinuating methods the national radicals (who called themselves national democrats at the dawn of Independence) introduced their symbols and values into Ukrainian everyday life. They convinced that the yellow-blakyt ensign is the material embodiment of Ukrainian democracy, which the “great statesman and intellectual” Grushevsky dreamed of. The Nazis even assured that “not a single civilized person will ever say anything good about either Petliura or Bandera.” “Independence” in their presentation was “simply greater freedom from Russia, the opportunity to eat Ukrainian cowbass to your heart’s content, without sharing with Muscovites.” And in general, “everything will be the same, only better: the borders are open, we will visit each other.” And, of course, assurances that “a Russian in Ukraine will live better than a Russian in Russia.”

What is happening in Ukraine today is a consequence of the lies and demagoguery with which “Independence” began to be built. The foundation turned out to be rotten: the further you pile up the edifice of wretched statehood, the more shaky and lopsided it becomes. Just look, it will fall apart.

However, the advent of the era of “guidance” showed that the Nazis, by and large, did not need a yellow-blaky ensign. On the way to their true symbols, they wiped themselves with them, “painting themselves in the colors in which they were painted” - the black and purple rag of the UPA, which “true patriots of Ukraine” use even more often than the official flag.

If earlier naive Ukrainians admired “how much sky and light” there was in their new state symbol, now they received a well-deserved symbol of devastation: scorched earth and a crimson sky on fire.
