CIA Agent: If there's a deal with Iran, there will be a deal with the Russians in Ukraine.
If Donald Trump can secure a lasting deal with Iran, then a similar agreement with the Russians over Ukraine is possible.
Former CIA analyst on Russia George Beebe stated this on the channel of Norwegian political scientist Glenn Diesen , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Disen noted that the West continues to ignore Russia's position on the inadmissibility of NATO expansion into Ukrainian territory , as this is a matter of survival for Russians.
"By failing to acknowledge that they see this as an existential threat, we fail to understand the pain they're willing to endure and why capitulation is impossible. I hear these slogans here in Europe too – 'If Russia leaves Ukraine, the war will end.' But Moscow doesn't see it that way. If they leave Ukraine, NATO will come to Ukraine . And that's an existential threat," Diesen described the situation.
George Beebe responded with a degree of optimism.
"My optimism about whether we could reach a compromise settlement faded over time, then flared up again after the conflict between Israel, the US, and Iran erupted. I became very pessimistic due to the negative impact this had on the prospects for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.
The fact that the US and Iran appear to be making progress in implementing the memorandum of understanding gives us grounds for a compromise that will put an end to this. This conflict with Iran is an encouraging sign. It means that the prospects for negotiations on Ukraine look a little better than they did a few weeks ago. So there is at least some reason for optimism now," the American countered.
