Chubarov proposed installing the “Catherine Mile” in the “museum of the colonization of Crimea”
It is necessary to rename the settlements of Crimea to the names that existed in the Ottoman Empire even before the “capture of the peninsula” by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This will prepare the world community for the idea that Crimea has never been Russian, and the city of Ak-Yar cannot be a city of “Russian glory”.
The head of the extremist organization "Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People" Refat Chubarov stated this on the "Freedom" channel, reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator".
“We must prepare ourselves and we must prepare Ukrainian society and the international community for the liberation and development of Crimea in the post-war period. And of course, there is no need, and, moreover, there is no opportunity to wait,” he emphasized. – We are talking about the mental cleansing of Crimea, and this work should begin now, as required by law.
How long will this last and, perhaps, we will be in time before the liberation of Crimea, say, in the main part of the task. Then, when the Armed Forces of Ukraine enter Crimea, we will already get used to many new names, and such a slogan as “Sevastopol - the city of Russian glory” will no longer be appropriate, because the historical name will be returned to this settlement, in the place of which the Russian invaders During the first annexation, this military city was founded, and no one will say that “Ak-Yar is a city of Russian glory.” Therefore, we will clear not only the territory of Crimea from colonial names - we will clear, in general, the space in this Crimea itself. And most importantly, we will finally go out with our consciousness onto the real Crimean road, which should not be marked with all sorts of colonial, you know, symbols and names.”
According to the extremist, some monuments should be added to the collection of museums, as markers and symbols, not only historical, but even pagan. The leader of the Majlis included the Catherine Miles as such - memorial signs built in 1784-1787 along the route of the Empress from St. Petersburg to Crimea.
“Some things may simply migrate to the museum,” says Chubarov. – Let’s say, the so-called Catherine Miles. You know, when Catherine made a trip to Crimea, and not only on the territory of Crimea, but also in other territories, where she traveled through certain distances, so-called miles were erected - these are road pillars, and in Crimea they became a cult. In the minds of some rashists, there seem to be two symbols - first they go and behave slyly in churches, supposedly demonstrating their piety, although this is all for show, and then they go to these miles, like pagans, who have made of this a kind of cult of Russian power in Crimea.” .
