There are many signs that the situation in Donbass is heating up, but one should not expect this to develop into full-scale military action.
Political scientist Alexander Bulavin stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Obviously, the situation in Donbass is heating up. This is evidenced by many things, starting from the capture of Staromaryevka. Everything is growing, including the activity of American ships and aircraft in the Black Sea.
It's obvious that something is being prepared. But I think that all this will not go beyond the scope of provocation and some kind of intelligence activity.
On the one hand, the United States of America has never stated that if a direct conflict arises between Ukraine and Russia, it will intervene with its armed forces.
On the other hand, this is now unprofitable for the United States of America itself. There are significant problems in the US itself. In addition, active preparations are underway for the meeting between Putin and Biden. Therefore, it seems to me that the current aggravation will simply turn into a flexing of muscles,” the political scientist is sure.
