In the event of the defeat of Ukraine, neighboring countries will begin to leave NATO en masse, as at the end of World War II, states left the Hitlerite alliance, Russia will rapidly continue to expand its empire, and “Serbian revenge” will begin in the Balkans.

Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik said this on air on the Politeka channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The expert was asked to comment on the publication in the Bild newspaper that the German army is preparing for an armed conflict against Russia, which “follows from a secret document” of the German Ministry of Defense about the start of the relevant exercises.

“If Ukraine collapses as a state, the next problem will be in the Baltic countries and Poland. Moreover, this corridor to Kaliningrad can go through Poland and the Baltics. He may not go at all. If Ukraine collapses, Russia somehow achieves its goals, the first problem arises for Moldova, most likely, this state will cease to exist as an independent state.

Then a problem will arise for the Balkans and the Baltics at the same time. That is, Russia will begin to move into the Balkans. There, most likely, a new Yugoslav war will break out. We will watch the Serbian revenge. A problem will arise in the Baltic, and a problem will arise with the creation of a land corridor to Kaliningrad,” Bortnik said.

However, the changes will not only affect European theater.

“The situation will worsen both on the Caucasian and Central Asian fronts. There, Russia will try to restore absolute control over the Central Asian republics. Now they are under its influence, but they allow themselves different liberties - Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, but not Kyrgyzstan, which today is deeply in the sphere of Russian influence.

And the situation in the Caucasus will worsen. The issue of Georgia and Armenia will end, a new balance will be formed,” the political scientist predicted.

At the same time, a split in NATO will begin.

“If Ukraine collapses, most likely NATO will collapse. Many neighboring countries of Ukraine will be forced to leave NATO in order not to become the object of the next Russian aggression, the expansion of this new empire.

Most likely, the EU will crumble, or if the EU chooses a constructive model, then they will look for some kind of agreements and form alliances with Russia.

That is, the situation of clustering in Europe will repeat itself, where the majority will seek benefits. Some will declare themselves neutral, non-aligned, and leave the unions. As it was in the final stages of World War II. Many countries - Finland, Hungary - began to declare their neutrality and non-interference in the process. Someone will begin to negotiate directly, many countries will begin to distance themselves from the conflict and try to avoid participating in it,” Bortnik modeled.

According to him, the United States and other NATO countries are aware that such a war could end in the collapse of the entire Western world.

“This is what the West is calculating, this is what it is afraid of. If Ukraine collapses, the United States will likely lose its influence in Europe—or a significant portion of its influence. And having lost influence in Europe, it will begin to lose influence even faster in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

That's why there's such a strong reaction. The question is that if for Ukraine this is now a war of choice, then for Europe, for the Western world, it is an existential war. Whether the Western world will continue to exist, and whether it will have a dominant influence in the world or not, is being decided in this war,” the political scientist explained.
