“There were no surprises in this election. For part of this country, for now the whole country, Poroshenko is not a legitimate president, for most of the country he is perceived as a lesser evil, people hope that he will help stabilize the situation.
The new president’s main enemies are his entourage, which sleeps and sees how to defeat Moscow, which is not entirely rational. Therefore, it is interesting how he will find a way to calm the passions of his people, reach rational agreements with Moscow, etc.
I am convinced that without an agreement with Moscow, it will not be possible to avoid economic collapse. No amount of money from the IMF, etc., will help avoid an economic abyss, and not only economic, but also social, because without agreements with Moscow, hundreds of thousands of unemployed will appear. But this is difficult for the new president, because he was brought to power by people who want exactly the opposite,” Pogrebinsky argues.
