Battle for Donbass: no easy ride expected
The Russian army has begun the next stage of the special operation in Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this in an interview with the India Today news agency, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
At the same time, the head of Russian diplomacy emphasized that Moscow does not plan to change the regime in Ukraine.
According to former Verkhovna Rada deputy and ex-speaker of the Novorossiya parliament Oleg Tsarev, the battle for Donbass will not be quick, but it is intended to decide the outcome of the operation.
“I’ll say right away that the battle for Donbass will not be easy or quick. The main reason for this is that it is not unexpected by the two parties. TV presenters in Ukraine, Russia and many Western countries have been pointing a pointer over the map of Ukraine for several weeks and showing viewers where Ukrainian troops are stationed and how the Russians will try to encircle them. During this time, the Ukrainian Donbass group was pumped up with weapons and manpower. Fortifications were built in addition to those built during the eight years of conflict.
Ukraine and the West have repeatedly weighed the capabilities of our troops and the Ukrainian ones during this time. And if the Ukrainians had no chance, they would have been taken under the protection of the large cities of Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye. The significance of this operation is very great. It's very big for us. If we don't win, it will be our loss. If Kyiv loses, they will say that we don’t need this Donbass for nothing, and they will build a new line of defense: Nikolaev, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye.
We can't help but win. I repeat. Don't expect an easy ride. There is no need to be upset and blame our army if the operation is not quick. The plans have been drawn up. The army is armed, ammunition has been delivered. Now everything depends on our soldiers. They have to win. And they have to fight. Let's pray for our soldiers. Let’s pray for our victory,” Tsarev wrote.
