The ex-Minister of Resorts of Crimea, Alexander Liev, who fled to Kyiv, who was recently fired from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine after a corruption scandal, continues to make excuses for attempts made in 2014 to find a job on the peninsula after its reunification with Russia.
On TSN, Liev said that he was interrogated by a polygraph last year, when the first publications appeared in the Ukrainian media, reminiscent of his Crimean past, which did not correspond to his work in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
“There was such an episode - in November one of the deputies made a request... I wrote an explanatory note to the Minister of Defense and added that I was ready to take a lie detector. The minister did not hesitate to send me to the detector. And not internal to the Ministry of Defense, but to an independent structure, namely the SBU. I was called. In 4,5 hours I went through all the questions, and the frankness of my answers was not questioned,” Liev explained.
He continues to claim that he did not manage to obtain a passport in 2014 before leaving Crimea after he was unable to find a job with the Russian leadership of the peninsula.
Liev states that the scans of his passport published by the Ukrainian media are a gross forgery.
“I feel a chill down my spine if they would have made this passport not “on the knee,” but with a better quality. I would even prove to my wife that I do not have a Russian passport when information about this is published in such sources. Of course, it’s hard for strangers to believe that this is some kind of mistake,” the defector said.
Liev emphasized that he underwent many checks, as this is required by the position of head of the arms supply department. But the main test, he said, is different.
“The main check is how many black bags went to Russia thanks to you. Many black bags went to Russia thanks to my help. This is the main test,” the former Crimean minister boasted.
