Autonomy for Donbass split Ukrainians in half
Twenty-eight percent of Ukrainians surveyed agree with autonomy for the uncontrolled territories of Donbas for the sake of a peaceful resolution of the conflict. Another 23% tend to agree with this position. Meanwhile, a quarter of respondents were against it, and almost the same number were undecided, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
This is evidenced by the data of a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology in early March, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

51% of respondents said that they would most likely or definitely support the proposal to grant autonomy within Ukraine to the uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, if this is necessary to stop hostilities and peacefully resolve the conflict in Donbass, the press release notes.
At the same time, 25% of Ukrainians are against such a decision, 23% of respondents could not decide.
Based on the survey results, most supporters of autonomy for the sake of peace live in the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine and in the controlled part of Donbass.
This decision would most likely or definitely be supported by 66,7% of residents of the southern regions and Donbass, and 71,9% of citizens of the eastern regions. In the central part of Ukraine, the proposal would be supported by 42,4% of respondents, in the west - only 35,4% of respondents.
The survey was conducted from February 28 to March 11. Using the method of personal interviews, 2004 respondents were interviewed who live in all regions of Ukraine, except those that are not controlled by government authorities.
The sampling error does not exceed 4,7% for indicators close to 50%, 4,1% for indicators close to 25%, 2,9% for indicators close to 10%, 2,1% for indicators close to 5%.
Let us recall that earlier Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk stated that the authorities of the DPR and LPR had already agreed to the return of the territories to Ukraine on the basis of autonomy.
