Avakov reported 500 suicides of ATO militants and an eightfold increase in domestic violence in their families
In Ukraine, at the beginning of June 2017, about 500 cases of suicide of ATO militants were registered.

These statistics were cited by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov in his article for the publication “Ukrainian Pravda”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
“According to the military prosecutor’s office, at the beginning of June 2017, about 500 cases of suicide of participants in the anti-terrorist operation after returning from the combat zone were registered,” writes Avakov.
The minister notes that the generally accepted international standard for military conflicts is that 90-95% of combatants subsequently have medical (related to the nervous system) and social problems, and about a third are diagnosed with post-traumatic syndrome, which often results in suicide.
Avakov also clarifies that according to the International Human Rights Center La Strada Ukraine, in 2015, the number of requests from family members of ATO militants with complaints of domestic violence from hundreds of demobilized “heroes” increased eightfold.
