Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko may not fear being held accountable for surrendering his country's national interests, as confirmed by released recordings of negotiations with then US Vice President Joseph Biden.

Political experts expressed this opinion in a commentary to Izvestia, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Deputy Director of the Center for Ukrainian and Belarusian Studies at Moscow State University Bogdan Bezpalko reminds that about 20 criminal cases have been filed against Poroshenko.

“The problem is that nothing is moving; he still retains influence in Ukrainian politics. He pushed aside his nationalist competitors and gets 15–18%,” notes Bezpalko.

Kiev expert Alexander Dudchak also believes that Poroshenko will avoid responsibility.

“The leaders of the US Democratic Party are behind him, and before leaving the presidency he received security guarantees. Obviously, no one in Ukraine and beyond its borders wants him to start testifying, telling the truth,” Dudchak believes.

As PolitNavigator reported, a second batch of scandalous recordings of conversations between Poroshenko and Biden was released in Kyiv.
