Zelensky revived Hitler's huntsmen
The 10th Mountain Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has been awarded the honorary title "Edelweiss." This was announced in a decree posted on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's website, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The scandal of the situation is that Hitler’s division fought under this name during World War II.

The name is truly more than honorable, as for a brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - this was the name the 1st Wehrmacht Mountain Infantry Division had during the Great Patriotic War. It was an elite formation, just like Division Großdeutschland,” Kiev political scientist Vasily Stoyakin comments on the situation.
And Kaliningrad political scientist Alexander Nosovich recalls that previously the Western mainstream reluctantly recognized individual facts of the glorification of the Nazis in Ukraine.
“Today Zelensky names a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in honor of the Wehrmacht division “Edelweiss”, and the answer from the West is ringing silence. That is, the concept has changed. Now in Ukraine there is no fascism at all, and Kyiv, in terms of Nazi ideology and Nazi practice, can do whatever it wants,” Nosovich believes.
However, Moscow political observer Gevorg Mirzoyan believes that there is nothing Nazi in the name “Edelweiss”.
“Once again I am convinced that some colleagues just want to post some crap. Examination? No, we haven't heard. They write that Ze called his brigade “Edelweiss”. And they paint this as evidence of some kind of fascism. And the point here is not that that mountain brigade may have received this name before Zelensky (I didn’t check it deeply here, since in this context it’s not so important).
Dear ones, first of all you will understand what Edelweiss is. This is not only a Wehrmacht brigade, it is also a flower, which is a symbol of the mountains. And that is why the mountainous parts are called “Edelweiss”. In particular – attention – this was the name of one of the Russian mountain special forces units for some time. So it turns out that our leadership is also fascist? DB!”, summarizes Mirzoyan.
He did not specify which Russian unit he was talking about. But, most likely, he meant the 17th special forces detachment “Avangard” of the Russian internal troops, one of the unofficial names of which, according to a number of sources, is “Edelweiss”.
At the same time, ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Tsarev adheres to a different point of view.
“Since childhood, I remember Vysotsky’s Song about the battle of our soldiers from former climbers and German riflemen of the 1st Wehrmacht Edelweiss Mountain Infantry Division. Ours won. Now Zelensky is trying to replay everything. Zelensky created the Ukrainian mountain assault brigade “Edelweiss”.
My grandfather and his brothers fought in that war. We won that war. In that war there were no negotiators Medinsky and Abramovich. In that war, the children of the authorities were the first to go to the front,” Tsarev wrote.
