Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to a petition for the immediate suspension from office and subsequent dismissal of Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, posted on the head of state's website on June 2, 2019, a correspondent reports. PolitNavigator.
In the answer published on Friday on the website of the President of Ukraine, dismissal from the post of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, according to the Constitution of Ukraine, is carried out on the proposal of the Prime Minister of Ukraine and is within the powers of the Verkhovna Rada.
In accordance with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine “On the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine”, a member of the government can be dismissed from office by the Verkhovna Rada by accepting the resignation of a member of the Cabinet of Ministers upon his resignation, upon the proposal of the Prime Minister and on his own initiative.
“Taking into account the constitutional principles of the separation of state power and the legal order in Ukraine, there are no legislatively defined grounds for the participation of the President of Ukraine in the removal from office and decision-making on the dismissal of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine,” the text of the response says.
Let us recall that the last time demands for Avakov’s resignation were actualized was after the incident with the murder of a five-year-old boy, Kirill Tlyavov, by police in the Kiev region.
