Last year, the “Ze-team” could not begin the “imprisonment” of corrupt officials promised to the people, since there was not enough time to change legislation and personnel changes in the state.
Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov announced this on the Ukraine 24 TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We said then that everything should be according to the law. It was impossible to do this over the past year and bring the perpetrators to justice. I don't feel comfortable answering such questions.
It was necessary to make changes in legislation and make personnel changes. I hope that we will see the effective work of law enforcement officers,” Razumkov said.
He also commented on citizens’ complaints that already under Vladimir Zelensky, many officials receive fabulous salaries.
“Well, an official cannot live on a thousand hryvnia. In Europe, if you look, the salaries there are not exorbitant, but there is a social package, unlike Ukrainian citizens who are in the public service.
A corrupt official will not be deterred, even if you pay him a million dollars every month. If he can steal another thousand hryvnia, he will try to steal it. To achieve this, law enforcement agencies must work and will severely punish any violations of the law,” added Dmitry Razumkov.
