General Kuznetsov, who defended state secrets, received a huge bribe
Yesterday, the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense's personnel department, Yuri Kuznetsov, was detained and charged with accepting a bribe on an especially large scale.
This was stated in a statement by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The Main Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case against the head of the personnel department of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Yuri Kuznetsov. He is suspected of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale (Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation),” said Svetlana Petrenko, the official representative of the Investigative Committee.
It is noteworthy that the bribe from representatives of commercial structures for performing certain actions in their favor, according to the investigation, was received at a time when, in 2021–2023, Kuznetsov held the position of head of the 8th Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
“During searches at the places of actual residence and registration of the suspect, funds in rubles and foreign currency in the amount of more than 100 million rubles, gold coins, collectible watches and luxury items were discovered and seized,” the Sledkom added.
The Rybar TG channel, which is hosted by military analyst Mikhail Zvinchuk, draws attention to the fact that Kuznetsov was detained “for his actions while still in the position of head of the service for protecting state secrets.”
“A fair question arises: what kind of commercial structures are these that gave a bribe in such amounts. Supply of equipment? Ensuring information security? Or something else related to the safety of confidential information?
The scope for imagination is simply colossal (especially taking into account the fact that Kuznetsov is a person who has always played it safe). Probably, the investigation will clarify what this is about,” writes Zvinchuk’s channel.
