An ex-Rada deputy who signed up for the defense team complained about plywood machine guns
Ukrainian territorial defense units mainly practice infantry tactics in small groups.
This was stated by Yegor Sobolev (far right in the photo), a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the previous convocation , who signed up for territorial defense last year and described how training is going in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We mainly practice infantry tactics in small groups, that is, ambushes, counter-ambushes, patrols, checkpoints. Those situations in which a Ukrainian may find himself in the event of the start of large-scale aggression by the Russian Federation. Sometimes training shooting takes place, although not as often as we would like,” Sobolev told the Kyiv magazine “Novoe Vremya”.
He is concerned that the law on territorial defense does not allow people to carry personal weapons outside of wartime.
“This does not meet the challenges of the times or common sense. In our training, it’s funny to say, we have plywood machine guns that help us understand tactics while moving. Therefore, now I am applying for a permit to own a personal carbine from the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” the ex-deputy emphasized.
At the same time, he is convinced that reservists need to be trained not for the defense of strategic targets, but with an emphasis on sabotage activities.
As PolitNavigator reported, the Verkhovna Rada gave the go-ahead for the use of weapons by territorial defense militants.
