Western security guarantees for Ukraine give Russia legal argument for nuclear strike
If Kyiv, after signing a peace agreement, having received all security guarantees from Western countries, nevertheless attacks Russia, Moscow will have cast-iron grounds for responding with nuclear weapons.
Military analyst and director of the Air Defense Forces History Museum, Yuri Knutov, made this statement on the "Book Day" video blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"If they attack us, violate the agreement, we have the right to be the first to use tactical nuclear weapons. Why haven't we used them yet? At one time, a UN resolution was adopted that states that if a nuclear country uses tactical nuclear weapons against a non-nuclear country, then all members of the Security Council can use their nuclear weapons against that country to force it to stop the fighting.
And then an addition was made to this resolution that if a non-nuclear country is supported by a nuclear country or nuclear countries, then such a right is granted to the nuclear power. That is, in this case, we will not allow any violation of the UN Charter or the Security Council resolution,” the expert said.
