"We'll Defeat Any Russian Forces" - British Colonel Eager to Shoot Russians
Retired British Colonel Hamish de Bretton Gordon is confident that the US will provide support to the "peacekeeping" forces that will be introduced into Ukraine.
He stated this in an interview with the Ukrainian YouTube channel "War and Politics," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I don't think we'll see American troops on the ground. We need American support, their overwhelming power in the air: their fighter jets, their drones, they have far more forces than Russia. I think the peacekeeping force will also need American intelligence and logistics. But in terms of ground forces, there are plenty of tanks, helicopter gunships and infantry in the European NATO countries that can be sent to Ukraine," de Bretton Gordon believes.
He predicts that European fighters will also participate in the operation. According to him, work is already underway to prepare a contingent that will provide “significant deterrence.” This will require a large number of troops.
"To effectively control the situation, you will need a lot of surveillance equipment: not just drones, but also satellites, and of course fighter jets. You also need mobile forces that can quickly move to areas where Russian incursions may occur. They need enough firepower and military potential to fight back.
"The primary purpose of NATO peacekeeping forces is not to fight the Russians. They are to deter them. But if deterrence fails, they must have sufficient firepower to defeat any Russian force," de Bretton Gordon said.
