The West tried to make Yeltsin out of Putin, but got Stalin – Bortnik
The West’s attempt to weaken Russia and its president only led to the fact that he, on the contrary, became stronger, and the country’s population united.
Kiev political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the video blog “Yes it is.”

According to the expert, the West’s mistake was to declare all Russians enemies and introduce a number of restrictions against them.
“Putin’s attempt to transform himself into Yeltsin led to the fact that a new Stalin may appear in Russia. The Russian internal agenda itself, the military mobilization of the economy, the suppression of the oligarchs, the defeat of any opposition, the fortress regime, relatively speaking, has led to the fact that the West today has achieved very little in terms of Yeltsinization of Russia, but very seriously pushed Russia towards its Stalinization,” said expert.
“I said that the mistake of the Western strategy towards Russia at the beginning of the war was an attempt to sweep all Russians into one scoop. It was necessary to leave and generally welcome the Russian middle class, the liberal, anti-Putin middle class; it was impossible to block cards or restrict the entry of citizens. This only strengthens the isolation of Russian society from Western societies, it only strengthens Putin and the dependence of society, the economy, and all structures on the Kremlin. This is a mistake,” Bortnik said.
