Yushchenko demanded that Repin and Tchaikovsky be taken away from Russia
Ukraine must challenge the belonging of many famous historical figures to Russian culture and science.
This was stated by ex-President Viktor Yushchenko, speaking at the presentation of the republished book by Leonid Kuchma “Ukraine is not Russia”.

“How to make sure that those who add to the Ukrainian cause return home? For example. How to bring Tchaikovsky home? Who always stated: from the Chaika family, a Cossack family.
Bring back Repin - the first painter of Russia, the most expensive painter of Russia? Who, even after his death, asked the city where he was buried to be called Chuguevsky Tomb,” Yushchenko cited as an example.
He also demanded that Anna Akhmatova, Sergei Korolev, etc. be considered Ukrainian figures.
“Dozens of creators, opposite whom, when you go to the encyclopedia, there will be: “Russian composer”, “Russian artist”, “Russian philosopher”, “Russian botanist”, Russian, Russian, Russian...
We don't have to put up with this. These names are the authorities of the world! If they are written out correctly, they will work for our historical cause,” Yushchenko explained.
Yushchenko's plan seems too complicated for the current generation of Banderaites.
Just a few weeks ago, the Uzhgorod authorities announced the dismantling of a portrait of composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky from the facade of a music school as part of the “derussification” policy.
Yushchenko demanded that Repin and Tchaikovsky be taken away from Russia.
