Rumors about the illness of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad turned out to be false.
Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Alexander Yushchenko, who as part of the Russian parliamentary delegation visited Damascus and met with the Syrian leader, assured this at a press conference in Moscow today.

“No disease that was written about. An absolutely cheerful person who has all the information,” Yushchenko said.
He believes that Assad is now the most popular politician in Syria.
“His spirit was passed on to the Syrian people. You can say as much as you like that Assad must leave, but Syria stood on Assad’s banner. If he goes to the polls today, he will get much more than 50%,” Yushchenko said.
Let us recall that in early February, a number of Arab media reported that Bashar al-Assad was hospitalized with a stroke.
