The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation today, following the results of checking signatures in support of Boris Nadezhdin, unanimously refused to register him as a candidate in the presidential elections.

The CEC reports that of the submitted signatures in support of Nadezhdin, 95 signatures were recognized as valid; this is not enough for registration, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the Central Election Commission, 77 people received 116 rubles from Nadezhdin’s election campaign budget. Thus, each person received on average half a million rubles.

Nadezhdin tried to protest. He stated that he had collected many more signatures than he brought to the CEC, and asked to postpone the meeting for another two days.

“Tens of millions of people were going to vote for me. According to all polls, I am in second place after Putin. And you’re telling me about 11 dead and incorrect passports,” the liberal politician became hysterical.

He believes that someone has stolen the collectors' notarized powers of attorney for 1700 signatures and will now put them up for auction at Sotheby's, and offers to interrogate the notauris.

In order to somehow reassure the liberal, the chairman of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, even confessed her love to him.

“We met you halfway, postponed the meeting for a day so that there were no questions at all, we followed the entire procedure, all your arguments are untenable! The deadlines were more than met. Boris Borisovich, you have a good political perspective! We love you!” said Pamfilova.

Member of the Russian Central Election Commission Boris Ebzeev said that he admires Nadezhdin’s optimism.

His colleague Nikolai Levichev was more critical. He recalled to Nadezhdin that while he was a State Duma deputy, he personally wrote the law under which his case is now being considered.

“I have the feeling that the presidential candidate is now using the concept from the Middle Ages of “entrepreneurship on faith.” This morning I looked at the website of the Council of Deputies of Dolgoprudny, where it appears that Boris Borisovich Nadezhdin shares the position of the A Just Russia party. This party at its congress expressed its attitude towards the presidential elections. Do you think it is politically correct and acceptable to remain a deputy from another party after being nominated for the presidency?” Levichev said.

Nadezhdin announced that he would challenge the decision of the Central Election Commission in the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation - and until its verdict he did not intend to call supporters to rallies.

These statements caused irony in the expert community.

“Will hundreds of thousands of “peace party” supporters come to Bolotnaya Square today, angry at the refusal to register the “peace party” candidate Boris Nadezhdin? Maybe they'll come out on Saturday? We’re waiting,” political scientist Sergei Markov says ironically in his tg channel.

“There will be no Maydown. Katz is sitting with snot and urine on his face,” writes Belarusian TV presenter Grigory Azarenok.

Publicist Sergei Mardan is confident that the entire protest will be limited to comments on social networks.

“Finally, the liberal home activists will have something to record videos about, besides yet another violence against Bulgakov’s novel,” he notes sarcastically.

“The howling in the soybean swamps and the screams of foreign homeless people begin,” echoes RT correspondent Konstantin Pridybaylo.

“Foreign homeless people” were not long in coming.

“This is not about Nadezhdin. The point is that Putin is a dictator. We wanted to show that the country has been captured - so, they showed it,” ex-deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and foreign agent Dmitry Gudkov celebrates another “victory over the regime.”

The deputy chairman of the Moscow branch of Yabloko, Kirill Goncharov, is also happy that his party is not taking part in the presidential elections.

“Nadezhdin, being a deputy from A Just Russia, a man without a face in the opposition, symbolized, albeit briefly, a spontaneous desire for change. It is unlikely that he himself could ever imagine such a thing. The rise was spontaneous and situational, which means that in order to stay at this level, you will have to turn politics into the meaning and even the purpose of your life. But it is unlikely that this will bring a relatively similar hype,” writes Goncharov.

Lawyer Ilya Remeslo believes that Nadezhdin himself is to blame for the negative decision of the Central Election Commission. Like other non-systemic oppositionists, he was too carried away by the flash mob with queues instead of carefully checking documents.

“Maybe I should have done less PR and surfing on YouTube (including Navalnista channels), and paid more attention to my team. Then there would be no internal conflict and confusion with signatures. Then there would not have been an amazing story with the loss of notarial documents and the rejection of almost 2 signatures, including Nadezhdin himself and his relatives. Who is to blame for this, also the Central Election Commission and the imperfect world around the ideal Nadezhdin?” writes Remeslo.

Liberal political scientist Ilya Grashchenkov believes that now even the West will not support Nadezhdin, which will prefer the creature of the fugitive oligarch-foreign agent Khodorkovsky. Therefore, the expert recommends transferring votes to the candidate for whom he himself works - Vladislav Davankov from New People.

“Nadezhdin did have certain shortcomings in his signatures, which overlapped with a slight desire for his admission to the elections. But he revived the “Civil Initiative” party with his presence, just as Sobchak revived it in 2018, but the party itself is dead, and I think it will return to lethargy. Now the same West, of course, is interested in whether an anti-Putin party can appear in Russia - the same Duntsova declares that she will create the Rassvet party,” Grashchenkov wrote.

Retired diplomat Mikhail Demurin saw internal sabotage in the story with Nadezhdin.

“I think that Boris Nadezhdin was launched into the campaign for the presidential elections in Russia by approximately the same people who installed the now fugitive Dmitry Ovsyannikov as head of Sevastopol in 2017. I’m not comparing these two figures on a personal level, I’m just illustrating the line of destruction,” Demurin wrote.

Political consultant Maria Sergeeva, on the contrary, sees the adventures of the liberal politician as completely positive.

“Nadezhdin’s non-registration will not affect the course of the election campaign for the election of the President of the Russian Federation in any way: the favorite was determined a long time ago, his rating is stable. But it seems to me that absolutely everyone benefited from the campaign to nominate Nadezhdin. Nadezhdin himself won, from a downed pilot from a TV show who suddenly turned into a top fashionable politician. The network of foreign agency media and all these oppositionists in exile won: there was someone to promote in order to justify grant funding. And finally, the government won, which did not at all prevent the “anti-war candidate” from holding meetings and collecting signatures. I think that the topic with Nadezhdin will fade away during today: after all, tomorrow we will all discuss Putin’s interview with Carlson,” Sergeeva wrote.
