Elections in the DPR: Zakharchenko said that he will have many competitors
Elections for the head of the DPR will be held in November 2018 in conditions of fierce competition.
The current head of the republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, announced this in an interview with RT, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“There will be a vote in November. There are a lot of people willing. I think that every second oppositionist would like to sit in this chair. And every first person dreams about it - even sleeps, probably, with this thought. Although in 2014 no one wanted this post, everyone was afraid,” he said.
“Currently the population of the DPR is somewhere in the region of 2,5-2,7 million people. This is much larger than the population that is located in the remaining territories of the former Donetsk region controlled by Ukraine, although they are much larger in area. We now own approximately 33% of the territory of the former Donetsk region,” Zakharchenko also said.
