All hope is in China: New “cunning plan” for Ukraine from Pushkov
The United States is unlikely to provoke an escalation around Ukraine and Crimea, since Washington's attention will be diverted to the crisis around Taiwan.
Senator Alexei Pushkov stated this on the talk show "Big Game," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“America, as it seems to me, is now really not interested in creating a hotbed of tension, greater tension than already exists, on the border between Ukraine and Russia. In my opinion, the United States now has other priorities.
In general, I think that America needs to forget about Crimea now, and then, maybe, about Donbass, and think about Taiwan. I believe this is the main challenge for the United States.
Let's speak seriously - Crimea's ownership has nothing to do with the United States at all and does not create any problems for them, except for the balance of forces in the Black Sea, which is very far from the United States and there are no oil caravans there, no American merchant ships there.
Therefore, it would be better for the United States to focus on the fact that there is a school there that says: “China is our main challenge.”
Well, that's right, China is the main challenge, yes. If we proceed from this logic, that the United States has realized, and it seems to me that they have realized, that their main problem from the point of view of global competition is China, and if they are now going to put pressure on China, then difficulties, friction and serious tensions between the US and China. In this logic, they do not need to strain the situation around Ukraine,” Pushkov said.
