The Ukrainian Armed Forces were destroyed by the Polish “Crabs”
Expensive NATO equipment is often only listed in the arsenal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, while it has long been destroyed by fire from the Russian army or is out of service.
This admission was made by deputy Bogdan Kitsak at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, describing the situation with the Polish self-propelled howitzers “Crab”.
Kitsak explained that the Ukrainian Armed Forces can write off equipment worth up to 1 million hryvnia using a simplified procedure. However, due to the high price, the decommissioning of lost "Crabs" turns into bureaucratic red tape, and the commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine prefer that the Polish self-propelled guns continue to be listed on paper.
“For example, I went to the 26th artillery brigade, there are Krab installations costing 330 million each. And for the entire period, not a single Kraba was written off, although they are not physically there,” the deputy said.
In September 2023, it was reported that the Polish manufacturer PGZ was to send about 60 Krab self-propelled artillery units (SPG) to Ukraine in the coming months.
