WHO: Russia is coping with coronavirus at the same level as Germany
During the epidemic, the Russian healthcare system is successfully coping with the massive demand for hospitalization, professional care and treatment of patients.
Melita Vujnovic, the World Health Organization representative in Russia, stated this on air at Komsomolskaya Pravda Radio, as reported by PolitNavigator correspondent.
She was asked what explains the Russian phenomenon, when Russia is fourth in the world in terms of the number of Covid cases, while the mortality rate remains quite low.
“It’s not only Russia that has such indicators. If we look at Germany and a number of other countries, we will see approximately the same thing. WHO has not yet done a detailed analysis of all countries. But it seems to me that one of the reasons is the ability of the healthcare system to cope with such a massive demand for hospitalization, professional care and treatment of patients. Russia is a large country, the situation is not the same everywhere, but in most regions they were able to admit all patients who needed hospitalization. Let me emphasize that these are not all sick people, but those who needed oxygen therapy, intensive care and artificial ventilation,” Vuinovich said.
