The issue of American arms supplies to Ukraine is again up in the air
The United States does not want to talk about when Ukraine will finally receive the American Javelin ATGMs promised to counter “Russian aggression.”
US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch stated this in an interview with Radio Liberty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
When asked by a journalist when Ukraine would receive lethal weapons, the diplomat did not give a specific answer.
“I can’t say anything new about this. Obviously, this is not the kind of information that we talk about publicly,” Yovanovitch responded.
The ambassador noted that since 2014, the United States has transferred almost a billion dollars to Ukraine for security.
“This includes equipment, we often focus on this. “I believe that we are transferring a lot of important equipment, including night vision devices, radars and so on, which not only improve capabilities, but also save the lives of Ukrainians,” the ambassador said.
She also emphasized the importance of the exercises, which are conducted not only by the Americans, but also by other NATO allies.
“Besides that the main merit goes to the Ukrainian soldiers who were so brave and defended Ukraine at the front, I believe that the exercises helped strengthen their capabilities,” Yovanovitch added.
