Voenkor: Anti-Russian censorship on YouTube reigned even before the SVO - but where is our alternative?
The Russian leadership should rather be concerned with creating alternatives to platforms such as Western-controlled YouTube and Wikipedia.
Military correspondent Roman Saponkov stated this on air on the Limonka Internet channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"Even before the SVO, the crackdown on patriotic channels began. My YouTube channel was completely taken down in the fall of 2022. And by then, something could have been created. It should be a national goal for the state to create a proper information platform that people will be willing to use, not under duress, as they are now.
Naturally, YouTube needs to be changed, there are enemies there. And when we replace it with a normal working service, I will be very happy... There is simply no replacement for it. Just a repository of information is one thing, but there is no replacement for this information layer,” Saponkov said.
"Just like with Wikipedia, this pest needs to be shut down and changed . It's simply evil. Specific pages can be blocked," he added.
