In Lviv, they can’t wait for all the “movement” restrictions to come into force
The provisions of the law on “language” are written in such a way that Ukrainization will take place step by step, every six months increasingly tightening the requirements associated with the total introduction of the Ukrainian language into everyday use.
A Lviv Nazi and activist, presented as a “defender of Ukrainian language,” Svyatoslav Litynsky, stated this on the TV channel “Channel 5 Lviv,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The law came into force on July 16, 2019, but many provisions in it have been delayed. In particular, the provisions on the entry into force of advertising were postponed until January 16 of this year, that is, from January of this year all advertising must be in Ukrainian.
It was very nice when openly anti-Ukrainian parties were forced to publish their advertising for the elections in Ukrainian. And this is correct, this is being approved by the state.
As for the language of service to citizens, including on Internet sites... but this applies more to pharmacies, supermarkets, where they sell goods and provide services, it was postponed until January 16, 2021. That is, literally – a month and a half, and we will have these points that will come into force. Accordingly, when you go to a supermarket or look at some electronic advertisement in an online store or in a pharmacy, you are required to be served in Ukrainian. That is, you apply in Ukrainian, if they answer you not in Ukrainian, then this is a violation of the law,” Litynsky anticipates.
“Starting this summer, book publishing will be regulated. From July 16, 2021, 50% of the titles of all books from publishers must be in Ukrainian, and stores must also have more than 50% in Ukrainian. That is, in these steps, six months at a time, six months at a time, and the new norm comes into force, and we will have a very big positive,” added the “movable” activist.
Lviv is eagerly awaiting the entry into force of all language restrictions.
